House League

 

In House meets twice a week for 14 weeks beginning at Champions Skating Center in Cromwell then moving to The Freeman Athletic Center on the campus of Wesleyan Univ. in Middletown, CT.

Any schedule or weather related changes/cancellations will be posted on the website as soon as they are received.
 

The House League program is designed for the skater who has completed a season of Learn to Hockey Skate or similar instructional program and is 5 years of age or older.  In House will be divided into 2 groups:  Mites, ages 8 and under and a Squirt & up  Group, age 9 and up.  There will be weekly practices and scrimmages, occasionally you may have the opportunity to accompany your group for a game or tournament against other team(s).


Participants in the House League must have a complete hockey equipment package.  This includes hockey helmet with face shield, neck guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, hockey pants, pelvic protector or jock, shin pads, hockey skates, and a stick.
A team jersey is provided by the Whalers.

Anyone wishing to coach/help on the ice at the In House level must be certified to coach through USA Hockey.  Full information on classes and requirements for certification are available on the USA Hockey Website.

In House starts on Sat. 9-11-2010 at 7:00a-9:00a at Champions Lower Rink in Cromwell.  This is for both the Mite and Squirt & up groups.
