Randi Demers - MITE A Head Coach
Coach Randi returns to the bench for the 2010/11 season leading the Mite A’s of the newly-created organization, “The Whalers”. Randi has over 7 years coaching experience at the youth hockey level, including Head Coach of Mite A’s and Squirt Majors. Since his arrival at the Connecticut Clippers in the fall of 2007, Randi has provided assistance with the Learn-to-Skate & Learn-to-Play/In-house hockey programs. Last year, Randi led the Connecticut Clipper’s Squirt Major team as Head Coach playing in the very competitive Mass Select League. His coaching experience extends to youth baseball where he currently serves as a Board of Directors member and Director of Baseball Operations for 7-8 year-olds.
Randi’s coaching philosophy is simple: provide kids a positive hockey experience, teach sportsmanship and team participation with emphasis on FUNdamental skill development while providing a safe, yet disciplined environment so that kids ALWAYS return to the rink with a smile.
Scott Serapiglia - PEE WEE A Head Coach
Coach Scott has spent the last 7 years with the CT Clippers and the past two of those seasons have been at the Tier 1 level, (Pee Wee and Squirt). In his first year as a head coach for the Clippers he led his team to a CT State Championship at the Mite level. He is excited to be part of the Whaler organization, and is excited to bring his knowledge and love of the game to his team. In this past season as a Tier 1 coach for the Clippers, the team placed in the top four in the Mass Select league (Tier 1).
Scott’s coaching philosophy centers around the teaching of teamwork, preparation, skill development, hockey knowledge and sportsmanship, with the emphasis on loving the game. Scott grew up playing hockey in Rhode Island,throughout high school, and continues to play as an adult.
Scott Trevethan – SQUIRT A1 Head Coach
"Coach Scott", as he is known, has 22 years of coaching athletics from young beginners to the highly skilled collegiate level. His coaching background includes successes in tennis, baseball, and of course hockey. He has been on 4 Boards of Directors of various Sports organizations. A number of students that Scott has worked with have gone onto highly successful college and professional sports careers. He believes that clear communication, positive reinforcement, and consistent repetition are the cornerstones of his coaching style. "Each child has a special talent; it is our job as coaches to find it, develop it, and help the athlete reach their potential." During his playing days, Scott played hockey for various organizations in Connecticut as a goalie. Scott also played Division 1 college tennis and advanced to play two seasons in professional mini tour events. He has spent the last 10 years in the CT Clippers Hockey organization coaching young athletes from learn to play through the tier 1 Bantam level. The last 5 seasons he has also been a head coach and recruiter for the AAA Atlantic All Stars spring hockey teams, which compete against top US and international squads.
Dan Reynolds – SQUIRT A1 Assistant Coach
Dan has been involved with youth hockey in Connecticut for the past 5 years at the clinic, mite and squirt levels. For the past 2 years, he was an Assistant Coach with Middlesex and is now very excited to be a part of The Whalers organization. Dan is from Amherst, NY (suburb of Buffalo) and played youth hockey with Amherst Knights, Wheatfield Blades, and Buffalo Regals. Dan has been playing hockey for over 30 years and values the good memories, life-long friends and learning experiences he has gained from this great game.
His coaching philosophy focuses on providing a challenging and encouraging atmosphere for the young players to develop their skills, build hockey knowledge, and value teamwork. Dan also believes open communication between players, parents and coaches helps build a foundation to a successful team.
