Middlesex Pee Wee B's win 2010 EHA Spring Tournament
by posted 03/08/2010

2010 Enfield Hockey Association Spring Tournament Champions
The Pee Wee B's played this past weekend in the annual Enfield Hockey Association Spring Tournament and swept the competition winning all 4 games over 3 days. Competing against teams from Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York, the B's allowed only 3 goals over 4 games to complete a solid defensive effort.  The Devils faced a determined team from Tewksbury, MA. in the final. However a consistent effort and solid contributions from all players provided a 4-2 win. Players received championship medals and a Team Trophy for all to enjoy.

The game of hockey is really coming together for this team. Concepts of passing, play creation and team defense are starting to gel. They will next be tested in the CT State Tournament in Norwich CT the weekend of March 18-21, 2010.

Banquet News
posted 03/02/2010

Hi all!

Want to give everyone information about this year's banquet.  The info will be posted on the web page shortly.  The Banquet will be held at Vinal Tech High School in Middletown on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 630pm.  This is the Thursday prior to Good Friday, so kids will not have school the next day.  Menu is as follows:  Chicken Parmigianna, Pasta with Sauce, Beef Carving Station,Vegetable, Salad, Rolls, Chicken Fingers, Beverages.  The cost is $15 per person. Tickets will not be available at the door; we will be selling them at the rink. The last day to purchase tickets is Friday, March 26th. Please see Lisa Zibbideo, Heidi Balch or Karen Purslow to purchase tickets; they will also be available at try-outs and on weekends at Champions up until the 26th.

In addition, we will once again be asking for a raffle basket from each team,  to be donated to benefit the Darryl Sigleski Scholarship Fund. If teams could have their basket ready by March 21st, so we can display them at try-outs for maximum sales that would be great!  Some ideas for baskets themes.........Hockey, Movie Night, Sports, Gardening, Lego,  Picnic, Beach, Gourmet Foods, Gift Certificates, Baking, BBQ, Golf, Red Sox or Yankees, Board Games, etc....Each family on your team can be responsible to donate one item to the basket relating to the theme, or each family can donate money while one person shops for the items for the gift basket.

We hope that everyone can join us for this fun night!  We can all get a chance to mingle with our hockey family, share our memories, recognize the hard work of our players, coaches and parents and say our goodbye's to the Red Devils while welcoming in our new opportunites as Whalers!  Hope to see you there...

Thanks,
Lisa Zibbideo
MCYHA Registrar

The New Whalers Logo
posted 02/27/2010

To All Clipper/Middlesex Families –

I would like to say thank you to everyone who sent in suggestions and designs for the new Whalers logo, and to all of you who took the time to cast your vote.

Without further ado, the Executive Board is proud to announce the winning logo for The Whalers.

We had many members of both organizations participate in the voting and this is truly appreciated.  We will have the new logo design put on the game jerseys and hope to have this displayed by the end of tryouts.

Once again, thank you to everyone who participated in this process.

GO WHALERS!!

Bill Rodrigues
